In Miss.Murphy's class: In math class this week the student's learned what the Pythagorean Theorem is and how to use it to solve the missing sides of triangles.
In history class this week the student's continued to learn about pope's and king's from 1600-1700 in Europe and Asia.
In Miss. Kohne's class: In science this week the students are working on force and motion. To learn this we will be conducting an egg drop Friday where the students are to be creating an "egg cradle" that will best protect their eggs when they are dropped. They will be dropping their eggs Friday in class. First they will drop it from above their head, then they will drop it from a ladder, and then they will drop it from the bleachers at the football stadium. This week in class leading up to the egg drop the students will be taking measurements, learning the steps to to the scientific method, collect their data Friday and make conclusions. On Friday we will begin some of our presentations on our information we have collected and we will finish presentations on Monday of next week.
In Miss. Duncan's class: In Language Arts class this week the students have been learning how to write, develop, and organize a paper. This is preparing the students to write a personal opinion paper on a topic that is connected with the school (lunch menu, bus rules, tarty bell, school uniforms, hall passes etc.).
Preview to Next Week:
In Miss. Murphy's class: In math class next week the students will continue to learn and apply their knowledge of the Pythagorean Theorem to find the missing length of triangles.
In history class next week the students will receive a study guide to complete for their test coming up in a couple of weeks. We will be doing different activities to help review the things we have learned and go over the study guide the day it is due.
In Miss. Kohne's class: we will finish our presentations of the information we found doing our egg drop experiments on Monday. We will start our section on plants structures and functions and with that we will use our classroom greenhouse we started at the beginning of the year.
In Miss.Duncan's class: The students will continue to learn the correct format for the upcoming paper. The students will choose a controversial topic to write about that deals with the school rules or policies. The students will start to organize and develop their own paper.
